It's hard to believe that it's been a year already, but Give to the Max Day begins at midnight tonight. According to their website, GiveMN.org, “GiveMN launched in 2009 as a collaborative venture led by Minnesota Community Foundation and many other organizations committed to helping make our state a better place” and their mission statement is, "We ignite generosity and grow giving. Using creative ideas and innovative technology, we connect more people with more causes than ever before." Their guiding principle is, "Everything we do aims to increase the number of donors and the total value of donations in the state. We endeavor to 'grow the pie' for organizations that rely on charitable giving. Pie is good. A bigger pie is even better."

GiveMN offers thousands of dollars in prizes to cause some excitement and start a little friendly competition, which helps donors make their dollars go farther. According to their Facebook page, in 2012, $16.4 million was raised to help Minnesota causes.

Give to the Max Day ends at midnight Thursday night.
