Summer is a pretty sacred season here in Minnesota. It’s the incredible payoff to our long, long, long, cold and dreary winters. Around January, we start speaking in hushed tones about how much we can’t wait for it to be summer. And when it is summer, let me tell you. There’s nothing like being at a lake on a warm Minnesota day. It’s the best. I think the only complaint most Minnesotans have about summer is that it doesn’t last as long as we’d like it to – although again, that’s what makes it so special.

The website Thrillist just put together a new ranking of every U.S. state based on how miserable its summers are, with the southern states dominating because of their brutal heat and humidity. If you’re wondering where Minnesota is on that list, you didn’t have to wait too long. Our summers are some of the least miserable, ranking second best at #49. Washington took the top spot at #50, although even the author admits it’s a relative toss-up.

You can check out the full list here, but this is a solid reminder of how good we have it up in the North Star State – even if it’s just for a handful of months. Totally worth it.
