Michelle Branch Is Getting the Wreckers Back Together

Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp are getting the band back together, if only for a night. The Wreckers will perform a few songs during Branch’s solo show in Nashville on Sunday (Aug. 13).

Branch tells the Tennessean that she hasn’t seen Harp in seven years. That’s about when her record label shelved the Wreckers’ second studio album, a move that would eventually lead to their departure as a duo and then as solo artists from Warner Music Nashville. Branch would go on to move to Los Angeles and several years later separate from her now-ex-husband.

“It really felt like my life was a snow globe, and someone turned it upside down,” she tells Nashville’s daily newspaper.

As for Harp, she quit pursuing a singer’s life shortly after the Wreckers split up but would release a solo album called A Woman Needs in 2010. Since then she’s been focused on songwriting but did say in a December tweet that new music was a goal in 2017. In 2016 she recognized the 10 year anniversary of the duo’s Stand Still, Look Pretty album with an Instagram post that celebrated the highs of the two friends’ journey together.

The Wreckers notched three songs inside the Top 40 of the Billboard Country Airplay chart, including their No. 1 hit “Leave the Pieces.” “My, Oh My” and “Tennessee” would follow before they broke up in 2008.

Branch’s Nashville stop on her Hopeless Romantic Tour will happen at 8PM at Marathon Music Works. It’s an all-ages show with Haerts opening.
