Medford volleyball swept their way into the subsection semifinals at Mayo Civic Center. Owatonna senior runner Braydon Kubat qualified for the state cross country meet.

The Tigers scored a three-set sweep of Lyle-Pacelli on Thursday at the Medford gym in Section 1A, West Subsection play. The third-seeded Tigers will square off with top-10 ranked Hayfield on Saturday at 11:30AM at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester. The Vikings eliminated Blooming Prairie 3-0 on Thursday. The 10AM semifinal features Faribault Bethlehem Academy against Grand Meadow on Kat Kountry 105FM.

NRHEG volleyball put up a good fight at Blue Earth Area in Section 2AA, South Subsection Thursday before falling in five sets. The Panthers, the No. 6 seed, won two of the first three sets, then dropped the fourth set in overtime. Blue Earth, the No. 3 seed, won 22-25, 25-17, 16-25, 27-25, 15-9. The Buccaneers play St. Peter in the semifinals. Top-seed and No. 1A ranked Kenyon-Wanamingo faces Tri-City United in the other semifinal.

Triton fell to No. 1 seed Stewartville in straight sets. The Tigers meet Cannon Falls in the Section 1AA, West Subsection semifinals. Kasson-Mantorville and Byron play in the other semifinal.

Owatonna volleyball plays at Big Nine champion Rochester Century on Friday night at 7PM on KRFO AM 1390. The other Section 1AAA quarterfinals are Rochester Mayo at Lakeville North, Farmington at Northfield and Rochester JM at Lakeville South.

OHS senior runner Braydon Kubat finished sixth at the Section 1AA cross country meet at Brooktree Golf Course on Thursday and will run at the state meet November 5 at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
