The Minnesota Public Facilities Authority announced this morning that the city of Mantorville will be receiving a grant and loan of more than $2.34 million to connect their sewer system to a treatment plant in Kasson.

Mantorville had the option of renovating an existing facility along the Zumbro River but instead chose to connect its sewer system to Kason's facility. According to a press release, Shawntera Hardy the chair of the PFA Board and commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development said this was a plan that was more than a decade in planning.

Mantorville is to receive a $1.88 million grant from the Point Source Implementation Grant Program. They will also receive a $469,000 loan from the Clean Water Revolving Fund which will run 20 years at 1% interest. Arrangements such as this in regards to the loan will save the city over $82,000 over a conventional loan.
