This is a hard one to write. Worse there are no answers.

The attacks in Paris have killed many and injured more. ISIS claims responsibility. Why? What does it prove? What is accomplished? Those questions really go for any attack.

Attacks have happened in the U.S. also. In 1999, students shooting students and teachers at the Columbine High School in Colorado. The two shooters killed 13 besides themselves and hurt so many. It was said they were bullied. In 2005, a student from Red Lake High School in northern Minnesota shot his grandfather and girlfriend before killing 11 at the school, including himself.

New York's World Trade Center Twin Towers were attacked on September 11, 2011. One of the scariest moments in our lives, next to Pearl Harbor.

In April 1993, Waco, Texas, Branch Davidian was brought down by the ATF after a 50-day standoff. Two years later, the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City was bombed. They planted trees for each lost life.

At Sandy Hook Elementary, just three years ago in December 2012, 20 children and six adults were killed by a gunman, who then killed himself. The gunman was diagnosed with mental illness.

There have been many shootings, thousands hurt and killed and still no answers.

Like I said, this was a hard one to write and some tears were shed. It is just so hard to understand. Life can be a bit of a challenge for some, more than others. There will be trying times. Reach out and find help.

The Black Ribbon is recognized for mourning and remembering those who were lost in tragedies.

Let's be thankful this holiday season, and every season, for family and friends.
