My husband and I watched the last two shows of "The Late Show with David Letteman." Here is a bit of a summary.

Tuesday, May 19, the monologue included a segment that news anchors were saying it was the second to last show then a big, red X would go across the screen because they were saying "The Tonight Show with David Letterman." The last anchor said, "The show is hard to watch," Letterman agreed with her being the demeaning individual that he is.

Regis Philbin then starts pacing in front of Letterman and wanting to be on the show. They compliment each other and Philbin leaves the long way, taking his time.

The Top Ten List: "Famous Last Words." Bill Murray pops out of a cake and, just a mess, hugs Letterman and makes him a mess. Letterman does change his jacket.

Wednesday, May 20, the last new "The Late Show with David Letterman."

The Top Ten List was star-studded "Things I've Always Wanted to Say To David Letterman." In no particular order, Alec Baldwin, Barbara Walters, Steve Martin, Jerry Seinfeld. Jim Carrey ("You're bit of an over actor," Carrey says as he messes up his hair and looks up cross-eyed), Chris Rock, Peyton Manning ("You are to comedy what I'm to comedy"), Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("Thanks for letting me take part in another hugely disappointing series" which got a "Really?" from Seinfeld), and Bill Murray.

The show was filled with clips. One segment included Letterman  interacting with kids. That was hilarious. Another was how his day went from when he first arrived at the studio to the beginning of the show.

He then gave many heartfelt "Thank you's" to lots of people. The people that were on the show and the people in the darkest of rooms. Even introducing himself to the people in the control room that he has never met.

Tremendous, Dave.

By the way, the first "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" will air Sept. 8, 2015.

The sun is shining above ... Think Happy Thoughts.
