Hopefully you are able to spend time together with family and friends.

Here are a couple of quotes from past presidents that are timely for today and every day.

Dwight D. Eisenhower said, "Accomplishment will prove to be a journey, not a destination."

John F. Kennedy said, "The American, by nature is optimistic. He is experimental, an inventor and a builder who builds best when called upon to build greatly."

Another tradition that I heard many times is "knee-high by Fourth of July." I guess that is more of a saying. Of course, that is referring to the height of corn stalks.

As I drive the back roads back and forth to work and home, I noticed most of the corn is knee-high, if not higher. However, there were a few crops that may be a little shorter. I, of course, also noticed a pop of color with the wild flowers or pretty weeds.
