It is getting close to Halloween. It is on Saturday. October likes to celebrate the day this week and actually it is Halloween Safety Month, which makes sense.

Be sure to have a flashlight or glow stick with your group; reflective tape on the costume would work. Stay with your group. Only go to houses that have a porch or front light on.

There are some safe Halloween events around the area:

  • Trunk or Treat at Ellendale United Methodist Church from 5-7PM.
  • Knights of Columbus hosts a party at St. Mary's in Owatonna from 3-6PM. Please bring an item for the food shelf.
  • Owatonna Park and Rec Trail from 2-4PM at Mineral Springs Park.
  • On Friday, Oct. 30, Dodge County Lions and Triton Community Ed. Halloween party will be at Triton Elementary from 6:30-7PM.

For some Halloween is about scary, just look at all the movies out there. Today is set aside for one character. Oct. 25 is Chucky Day, Child's Play Killer doll. Don't look under the couch, you never know where he could be. That is the only thing I remember about that movie, because that's when I walked away.

Monday, Oct. 26, is Howl at the Moon Night. I guess that is a good way to relieve some of the stress trying to think of what to dress up for Halloween and trying to resist eating the candy you bought for the trick or treaters. My husband hid the two big bags he bought. We usually average 35 goblins.

Stay safe. Have fun, scary or not.
