Local basketball, hockey and wrestling teams will travel to a variety of cities to compete in holiday tournaments, beginning as early as Saturday, December 26.

Holiday tournament time is usually a chance to play games against different teams. That will be the case when Owatonna boys basketball opens the Federated Tournament Tuesday against Milwaukee South on December 29. However the OHS boys hockey team could face conference opponent Mankato West while playing in the Heritage tournament in Duluth.

The NRHEG boys basketball squad would enjoy a rematch with Gopher Conference and Section 2AA rival Maple River. The Panthers open with Lake Crystal-Welcome-Memorial on Saturday, December 26, at 8PM at the Bethany Lutheran tournament in Mankato. They could play the Eagles on Monday in the second round. No. 2AA St. Croix Lutheran is also in the tournament.

The top-20 Dodge County's girls hockey team goes to Warroad for a tournament starting Saturday.

On Monday, December 28, Owatonna's girls basketball team goes to the St. Cloud Tech tournament. OHS boys hockey plays in the first round of the Heritage tournament hosted by Duluth Denfeld. They play at 3PM versus Hudson, Wis. KRFO will present radio coverage on Tuesday and Wednesday. NRHEG girls basketball plays in the St. Olaf tournament against Mayer-Lutheran and the Triton girls go to the Randolph tournament. Dodge County boys hockey plays in the Kiwanis tournament in Rochester starting Monday.

On Tuesday, December 29, the Federated boys basketball tournament begins with Waseca against Duluth East at 6PM. Owatonna faces Milwaukee South afterward with the game on KRFO AM 1390. OHS girls hockey plays in the Schwan Cup tournament at noon versus Moose Lake. The Huskies are 15th ranked in the new Let's Play Hockey poll. Owatonna's wrestlers will be at the Rumble on the Red at the Fargodome. Triton's boys basketball team plays at the Norwood-Young America tournament.
