The Steele County 4-H and Master Gardeners once again are offering the One Step Garden for young people to learn about vegetables and gardening. The garden is near the east entrance of the Owatonna Hy-Vee.

Youngsters meet each Thursday now through August 4 from 10-11:30AM. The morning consists of making garden snacks, doing crafts and learning about gardening. Kids get the chance to plant vegetables, sample them and learn about the nutritional importance of including vegetables in one's diet. The activities are geared for kids in third through sixth grades. Kids are invited to simply show up Thursday mornings. Young folks will also get a chance to try their hand at weeding.

These classes will take place rain or shine. In case of rain, the meeting will be inside the Hy-Vee Club Room.

You can learn more by calling the Steele County Extension Office at (507) 444-7685 or email Missy Koch at melissam@umn.edu.
