Owatonna boys soccer plays in the Section 1AA title match Tuesday at Farmington at 7PM. Radio and online coverage will be heard on Kat Kountry 105FM

This is the fifth straight year that Owatonna has appeared in the section final. The Huskies have finished as the runner-up the past two years after advancing to state in 2012 and 2013, beating Farmington for their second title.

OHS has been on a great run lately, winning five straight and seven of their past nine. Owatonna (10-7-1) beat Lakeville North 2-0 in the section semifinals. Coach Bob Waypa told KRFO that the players were excited about the challenge they have faced in the playoffs. Owatonna faced Rochester Mayo, who had ended the Huskies' season in the section final a year ago. OHS won last Tuesday 4-1 with a hat trick from Nate Smith.

Waypa says Smith's level of play is getting stronger each game. Smith scored the second goal of Owatonna's win at Lakeville North on an assist from his twin brother, Nick.

Farmington (11-7) has been in a scoring drought lately. They were shut out in three straight games to end the regular season. The Tigers have won each playoff game 1-0 in overtime, beating Rochester John Marshall and Lakeville South. Waypa says Farmington is almost a mirror image of the Huskies. He says they have great goal tending, strong defense and a couple of players that do most of their scoring.

Owatonna senior goalie Aidan Buryska has been spectacular at times. Junior goalkeeper Zach Berg has carried the load for the Tigers.

Tuesday's match will be heard on Kat Kountry 105FM, katkountry105.com and the RadioPup app. The winner advances to the state tournament, which begins next week. Matchups will be seeded and announced when the field is set. State quarterfinals will be held at various sites around the state. The semifinals and finals are at US Bank Stadium.
