Huskies Boys Soccer Unbeaten, but Looking for More

Owatonna boys soccer is unbeaten three matches into the season at 1-0-2, but those two ties are the result of late-game goals by Farmington and Lakeville North. OHS coach Bob Waypa said on Saturday's coaches show that they need to find a way to finish off teams. He says the team has played well enough to score several more goals in each game. The most recent example of that was Thursday when the Huskies beat Mankato West 3-0, but Waypa believes they could have scored more.

Waypa said the team has sometimes suffered a letdown in their first conference game after playing tough metro teams to open the season. West won the Big Nine title in 2016. This year Waypa expects several teams to contend. The Huskies play a pair of league games this week before tangling with another top-notch Twin Cities team.

Tuesday Owatonna plays at Albert Lea at 7PM. The Tigers just blanked Northfield 1-0 last week. Thursday the Huskies go to Northfield at 7PM. Saturday OHS plays at Minnetonka in a girls-boys doubleheader at 2PM. The Owatonna girls (2-1) host Albert Lea Tuesday and Northfield Thursday at 7PM at Lincoln each night.

Huskies senior Spencer Glynn left the Lakeville North game August 24 with an ankle injury. Waypa says he was back at practice on Friday and could be back in the lineup soon.
