Owatonna built an early lead at Fuller Field at Dartt's Park and went on to beat Lakeville South 7-5 in Section 1AAAA. OHS will face top seed Lakeville North on Saturday.

The Huskies got on the board in the first inning without a hit. Two walks, an error, a wild pitch and a delayed steal led to a quick 2-0 advantage. Owatonna led 5-0 after four innings. South broke through in the fifth and starter Alec Holcomb was relieved by Clay Leidall. Kodey Kiel also pitched.

Holcomb and Nate Deason were named the Kottke Jewelers "Diamond Players of the Game." Holcomb went 4 2/3 innings, giving up two runs. He also made several good plays when he came in at catcher. Deason had a pinch hit RBI single in the fifth.

The final out of the game came between third and home when a Cougars base runner tried to score on a passed ball. Lakeville South out-hit Owatonna 11-5, but the Huskies benefited from eight walks.

South then kept their season alive with a 6-4 victory over Rochester JM.
