Update; How Much Snow Did We Get?
Today could be one for the record books, if it's not a record it was certainly memorable. As we begin to dig out from the massive snow fall that took place across Southern Minnesota. The question remains, and will be debated for the next 24-36 hours, how much snow did we really get in Southern Minnesota? That number is tough to assess as the snow blew and drifted throughout the day. According to the National Weather Service as of the last report that came in here are your totals so far. (These are preliminary numbers and will be updated)
Faribault - 13* inches reported *previously recorded as 8.2 inches
Owatonna - 13.5 to 17 inches at multiple locations
Mankato - 13 inches
Madelia - 12 inches
Waterville - 13 inches
Waseca - 16.5 inches
The snowfall can also be blamed for a lot of car accidents today. As of 8:45PM 511mn.org was still showing semi's and vehicles spinning out and jack-knifing into the ditch.
Certain portions of MN-19 and I-35 travel is still not advised due to slippery and snow covered conditions.
