I realize last winter was one of the deadliest flu seasons but was surprised that around 80,000 Americans lost their lives due to flu last flu season. That's more than the number killed in traffic accidents or from opioid overdoes. In Minnesota 435 flu deaths were reported which was the highest in a decade.

Flu shot clinics begin Tuesday in the area with a school flu vaccination clinic at Medford Schools from 3:30-7:30PM. The school clinics are for those 6 months and older. Other school clinic dates include October 22 at the Blooming Prairie High School from 4:30-7:30PM. October 23 from 4-7PM at the Ellendale School and November 3 at Roosevelt School in Owatonna from 90 noon

Steele County Public Health will offer flu shots to those 18 and older on Tuesday, October 2 from 9-10:30AM at Medford Manor. Wednesday, October 3 at the Ellendale Community Center from 12-1:30PM. Thursday, October 4 from 9:30-11AM at Senior Place and Friday, October 5 at Blooming Prairie Senior Dining from 12-2PM.
