Vikings enthusiast Todd Walkingstick of Owatonna joined me on the air Wednesday for some thoughts on how the Vikings can upset the Cowboys on Thursday.

Walkingstick is a pure fan. He supports his team with all his heart and believes they can win even if the odds are against them. Another blow was dealt to the team late Wednesday when it was announced that head coach Mike Zimmer would have emergency eye surgery and could miss Thursday's game, according to the Star Tribune.

Minnesota (6-5) is fighting to remain a playoff contender. Dallas (10-1) has sailed along on the strength of the performance of a pair of rookies. Running back Ezekiel Elliot leads the league in rushing and quarterback Dak Prescott has delivered a solid performance in the absence of Tony Romo.

Walkingstick is hopeful the Vikings can find some downfield options against a Cowboys team that ranks in the bottom half of the league defensively. He also believe Minnesota's defense has to play a solid game against the explosive Elliot.

Walkingstick and I also reflected on Owatonna's appearance at US Bank Stadium for the state football semifinals recently. Walkingstick hosts a local sports interview feature called Beyond the Game that focuses on Owatonna and Steele County-area sports. A new release gets posted each Thursday on Owatonnalive.com. On December 1, interviews with Owatonna Chamber president Brad Meyer, OHS grad Justin Brown and NRHEG quarterback Sam Prigge.
