Habitat for Humanity of Steele-Waseca Area is recruiting an AmeriCorps VISTA, Volunteers In Service To America, according to a press release.

AmeriCorps VISTA develop programs for low-income homeowners to focus on financial literacy and assist them in preparing for the commitment of owning a home. The corps of VISTA has more than 8,000 Americans who are full-time and commit a year to build capacity in nonprofit organizations or local government agencies and support efforts for others overcoming poverty.

VISTAs help recruit and manage volunteers and raise money to improve literacy, reduce homelessness, expand job opportunities and improve health services, also support programs for low-income veterans and military families. And for those in poverty in rural and urban areas, VISTAs will expand access technology.

Habitat for Humanity of Steele-Waseca Area is accepting applications for VISTA position until Friday, June 3. Applications are available online or by calling their office at (507) 446-0112.

Habitat for Humanity has built more than 20 homes since 1993 in our area. Habitat homeowners achieve stability and independence build a better life for many families.
