The Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association first in-season poll is not much different than the preseason rankings.  The Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals are still ranked 9th in Class A despite starting 0-3.  The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers are still the top ranked team in Class A.  POWER 96 Radio will have the Gopher Conference opener for both teams Thursday with coverage beginning 7:00 p.m.

The Cardinals have a 137 conference winning streak on the line when they travel to Buc Country to face the top ranked Class A team.  The 0-3 start is not something new for Bethlehem Academy due to their incredibly tough schedule.  Their season opening losses have been to #1 Class AAA Lakeville North, #3 Class AA Marshall and #2 Class AA Stewartville.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown opened their season with a win over the Triton Cobras and then defeated #5 AA Kenyon-Wanamingo in the Knights Castle.  It was a five set thriller that we were privileged to broadcast.

Our featured match on KDHL Thursday is Cannon Falls at Kenyon-Wanamingo with coverage also scheduled to begin approximately 7:00 p.m.  The Knights as noted are still ranked #5 in Class AA.

Defending Big Nine Conference Champion Northfield is rated #10 in Class AAA.  Last season the Raiders ran the table in the conference and made it to the Section final before falling to eventual State Champion Lakeville North.
