The University of Minnesota road show is coming to Owatonna on Wednesday, June 8, for their Chalk Talk 2016 at the Owatonna Country Club at 8AM. It is free to attend.

Local Gopher supporters are invited to join interim Athletic Director Beth Goetz and Gopher coaches for the event. Goldy Gopher is also scheduled to appear. In a news release from the University of Minnesota website, Goetz says, "As a department, the Gopher Road Trip is one of our favorite events of the year." She added, "The road trip gives us the chance to get out to different parts of the state and personally thanks fans and alumni."

Coaches scheduled to appear in Owatonna include football coach Tracy Claeys, men's basketball coach Richard Pitino, women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings and men's hockey coach Don Lucia, among others.

Fans can register ahead of time to guarantee a seat for the appearance by going to MyGopherSports.com or call (800) U-GOPHER (846-7437). There is no charge to attend and a complimentary continental breakfast will be provided. Gopher broadcaster Mike Grimm will emcee. Door prizes and photo opportunities are also part of the visit.

The local sponsor is Federated Insurance. The local organizing committee includes Pat Cooper, Julie Rethemeier and Shelby Zempel.

After the morning visit to Owatonna on June 8, the road trip stops at Somerby Golf Club in Byron at 11:30AM.
