A young girl was injured Wednesday afternoon after falling some 30 feet out of a tree. It started with a report of a young girl climbing a tree at Myre-Big Island State Park of Albert Lea. When the Freeborn County Sheriff's Department arrived they spotted a girl about 30 feet up in the tree. It's reported the girl had made a reference to jumping. Deputies attempted to talk the girl down without success. A ladder truck was summoned from the Albert Lea Fire Department.

It's believed the girl then accidentally fell out of the tree and struck several branches before landing on her back and left side on the ground. The victim was conscious and deputies performed C-P-R on her. She was taken to Mayo Health System for treatment.
