Friendly Family Rivalry Monday on Softball Diamond in Medford

First-year head Medford softball coach Alyssa Strunk would like to see her cousin Elly Strunk of Blooming Prairie pitch well on Monday, just not too well.

Bragging rights will be on the line as Medford hosts Blooming Prairie in a Gopher Conference softball game Monday at 5PM. Elly Strunk is an experienced junior pitcher for BP. It will be the Awesome Blossoms' season opener while the Tigers enter play at 1-1 after their 14-4 victory over JWP on Thursday. Tigers catcher Kori Dodge was named the Paffrath Jeweler's athlete of the week on Saturday's coach show on KRFO after a strong week at the plate for the junior, which included a home run. Coach Alyssa Strunk, a Zumbrota-Mazeppa and Winona State University graduate, said she was pleased with how well the team played on Thursday. She was especially pleased that the defense tightened up after some errors in their season opening loss to United South Central on Monday.
