The Steele County Free Fair Flag Raising Ceremony was at 5PM on Tuesday,Aug. 18. Due to the uncertain weather, the ceremony was moved to the Beer Garden. Members of the Exchange Club were at each entrance and gave everyone a small flag to show all our patriotism. It did not rain during the ceremony but with it raining off and on yesterday it was good to be indoors.

The Color Guard represented Owatonna, Medford and Ellendale.

The Knights of Columbus Council 945 sang patriotic songs before and during the ceremony. They sang each military branch song and their flag from the color guard would be out. During the end, the choir sang "God Bless America"; about halfway through the conductor turned to all of us attending and we all joined in.

Two Voice of Democracy winners, Chloe from Owatonna and Marisa from Blooming Prairie, read their speeches.

Also just for a little fun, here is the view of the fair from our KRFO/Kat Kountry studios.
