National Fire Prevention Week runs from Sunday, October 8 through Saturday, October 14. The Owatonna Fire Department will hold their annual Chili Feed this Sunday from 4-7PM at the Fire Hall. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets are on sale now at Kottke jewelers.

Once again AM1390 will focus in on some of the area fire departments during Fire Prevention Week. Wednesday, October 11 we'll chat with the Owatonna Fire Department. On Thursday we'll meet with the Ellendale Fire Department and we'll talk with Blooming Prairie on Friday. All the interviews will run between 3-4PM.

October is the month you hear the friendly reminder to change the batteries in your smoke alarms. Some other things to keep in mind is to make sure your house number is plainly visible as not all fires are clearly visible if inside a building. Decide on a common meeting place for all members of the household should it become necessary to leave your home due to a fire.
