Faribault Parks and Recreation Director Paul Penansky will be joined by Brad Phenow on KDHL to give us an update on September 20, 2018 storm damage.  City Emergency Management Director Dusty Dienst reported earlier the National Weather Service determined there were 7 tornadoes in Rice County and 4 in the Faribault area.

An F2 tornado caused the damage at the Faribault Municipal Airport.  Two F2 and two F1 tornadoes hit Faribault along with straight line winds.  Penansky says among Faribault's parks, "Wapacuta had the most tree damage."  The night the tornadoes hit I drove around town and went into Alexander Park North and saw a lot of trees down.

What is amazing to me is the fact shingles appeared to be in tact on roofs of buildings in the parks but massive trees were completely uprooted.  Phenow took a number of pictures for the city to share with state and federal officials.

The City of Faribault and Rice County are hoping to receive a Federal Disaster Declaration.  The Governor has to make the request.
