Jack Helgeson returned to the Faribault Lakers to throw a complete game 6 hit shut of the New Prague Orioles last night.  Faribault picked up a 6-0 win at Bell Field.  Helgeson had been out with a shoulder injury and the Lakers ace Matt Lane has also been lost to injury the past couple of weeks and returned to the lineup.  Another injured player Blake Langerud was also productive in his return at the top of the Lakers order.

Langerud had a pair of hits and an RBI, Lane collected two hits including a double and RBI, Helgeson did not bat in the game.  Adam Kline also had a pair of hits and a double with an RBI as Faribault tallied 12 hits in the game.  Mitch Johnson added two hits, Joe Grote two hits.  Porter Sartor and Dylan Valentyn also added a hit each.

The Lakers scored a run in the 4th, run in the 5th, 3 runs in the 5th and a run in the 8th inning.

All five of the New Prague hits were singles.

It was a big win for Faribault because New Prague is in a top four position in the standings.

Faribault is at Union Hill tonight with the first pitch scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and tomorrow night they host Veseli in their regular season final game with a same first pitch time.

The Lakers are in must win mode in order to get a top four seed and first round bye in the postseason tournament and luckily the game tonight is against a team sitting in the number three spot.  New Market clinched the top seed and St. Patrick has the number two seed locked up.

I believe Union Hill would clinch a top four seed with a victory over Faribault tonight.
