The Section 2 Class A champion Faribault Falcons will play the No. 3 seed Hermantown Hawks on Wednesday in Chisago Lakes.

The game starts at 5:30PM.

It's Faribault's first trip to the state tournament. Head coach Brendan Cox told KDHL on the Faribault Coaches Show at Bashers his Falcons have great team chemistry, and that's why they've been able to make this magical run.

Cox told me they do not get much in the way of scouting reports on an opponent and don't exchange film or anything. They concentrate on what they can control and that is their own attack and defense.

I would think knowing a team's tendencies would help. Maybe for example the goalie is not as good going after balls to his left or right. But I do not profess to know much about soccer. I watched a nephew and niece play and that is about it.

St. Thomas Academy received the top spot and will face the Rochester Lourdes Eagles at 5:30PM at Benilde-St. Margaret's.

The Orono Spartans are the No. 2 seed and play St. Paul Como Park at 7:30PM in Chisago Lakes.

No. 4 seed Breck school faces Sartell-St. Stephen at 7:30PM at Benilde.

The semifinals are on November 4 at St. Cloud State University Husky Stadium.

If Faribault pulls off the upset, they would play at 5PM Nov. 4.

The state title match is at noon November 5 at Husky Stadium, and the third-place game is at 11 that morning.
