The Faribault Falcons boys basketball team outscored the Owatonna Huskies 43-22 in the second half and came home with a 69-46 win Tuesday night.  The Falcons have not had a lot of success in Owatonna over the years but they thoroughly dominated the second half on both ends of the floor.  Faribault led 26-24 at the half.

The Huskies have lost some players to injury and Isaac Oppegard make his debut on the hardwood following a football injury.  The Falcons were without two starters due to injury also.  Senior Joe Palmer drained six three point baskets, finishing with 26 points and classmate Andy Prange collected 22 points on 7 of 8 shooting at the free throw line and some baseline floaters.

They were named our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault players of the game along with junior Abdi Abdullahi.  Abdi used his long arms to get steals and rebounds providing tremendous energy off the bench.  He finished with 11 points and had to have double digit rebounds in the game.  In fact Abdullahi played so well he started in the second half.

Palmer and Prange tallied 8 points each in the first half and Abdullahi had 5 to lead the Falcons.  Faribault was 17 of 23 from the free throw line  Owatonna was 5 of 20 from the so called charity stripe.  The Huskies were led by senior Steven Eckard with 14 points and senior Jack Hanson added 10 points.

The Falcons bench had 13 points and Owatonna's 4 points.  Faribault totaled 8 three point baskets while Owatonna had 1.  Two Huskies followed out and one Falcon in the very physical game.

Owatonna is at Winona Friday then hosts Matthew Hurt and the John Marshall Rockets Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.  With the victory the Falcons are 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the Big Nine.  The Huskies drop to 4-6 overall and 3-3 in conference action.

Faribault entertains Mankato West Friday in a game we will have on POWER 96 Radio beginning at 7:15 p.m. if they are on time.
