If you are like me, you use I-35 every day to get to and from work. We know that I-35 South of Owatonna is down to just one lane in each direction for bridge replacement. But beginning next Monday people who drive on Interstate 35 near Faribault will encounter more single lane, head-to-head traffic, ramp detours and traffic delays. Construction workers will start a concrete overlay project on Monday, July 9th according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The project will end up paving approximately 4 miles of southbound I-35 from Rice County Road 9 to Hwy 21 with an unbonded concrete overlay. Work crews will also be repaving the Hwy 21 exit ramp, extending the deceleration lane off southbound I-35 to Hwy 21 and repair numerous culverts along I-35.

Construction is expected to be completed in fall of 2018. Commuters can expect single lane, head-to-head traffic and detours during construction. Traffic delays are expected, especially during peak traffic hours.

It really is true, there are only two real seasons in Minnesota winter and construction season.
