Deb Lundberg has seen a fair amount of change during four decades of working at Alexander Lumber in Owatonna. Now she is looking forward to having Saturdays off.

Tuesday, March 31, will be Deb Lundberg's final day at Alexander Lumber in Owatonna. That will end nearly 40 years of working with local residents and contractors on their building, home improvement and repair projects. An open house was held Friday for the public to stop in and say goodbye.

"I had a customer in this morning who we built a house for in 1978."

"It's amazing everything that's changed...when I started we didn't have computers. Everything was done by hand. We added everything."

"I have carpet that's made out of plastic and corn."

Lundberg was hired in 1976. She was a big part of expanding the interior part of the business. She told KRFO's Brad Fischer that she is looking forward to being home a little bit more and not working on Saturdays. She hopes to do more gardening and quilting.

Lundberg also plans to travel to see her son Drew more, who was a record-setting wide receiver for Owatonna football and played basketball for the Huskies and at North Dakota State University.

Deb's husband, Dave, will continue to work at Steele Waseca Co-op Electric. We in the KRFO sports department owe many thanks to Dave for concession stand treats he brings us during OHS football games.

Alexander Lumber Co. in Owatonna has been in business since 1883.
