The 18th annual Culturfest takes place this Saturday, September 24, on the grounds of the Wilson School. Those who would like to take part in the opening march are asked to meet in the lot of the Northwoods Theater by 10:15AM and then march under the flag of their lineage to the Wilson school. There will be about 50 nations represented.

New this year is the Amazing Culturace. It's an opportunity for individuals to compete and win cash for their favorite charity. There are still a couple of openings. Go to the Culturfest website to learn more and to sign up.

After the opening ceremony, an award will be presented to the first "CulturFest Ambassador for the Year." This year's honoree is Ibrahim Hussein, founder and executive director of the Somali American Cultural Society of Owatonna.

Admission to the event is free. There will be entertainment on the main stage starting about 11AM. There will also be a Performers Meet and Greet running from 11:30AM to just after 4PM.

There will also be booths set up with demonstrations on a variety of things including Slovakian egg decorating, beekeeping, henna art, pottery and more.

There will be a sports area featuring a Scottish Herding demonstration and Norwegian Kubb, which is a lawn game.

Food will be available for purchase throughout the festival.
