Cool Down with Homemade Ice Cream
The weekend is going to be a warm one. Current forecasts are projecting a high of 95 degrees on Saturday! Even warm weather lovers can agree, when it gets that warm, sometimes you need to cool down a bit. And this homemade ice cream recipe is easy to make, doesn't require an ice cream maker, and best of all, yields delicious ice cream!
I know some people have ice cream machines at home, but the beauty of this recipe is that you don't need any special equipment. I've heard of many students having had made this recipe in school, and it's no wonder why, everyone loves ice cream, and getting to see the process is just fun.
This recipe is from food.com and will help cool you down all summer long.
1/2 cup half-and-half
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 sandwich ziploc bag
1 gallon ziploc bag
3 cups crushed ice
1/3 cup rock salt
Put first 3 ingredients in the smaller Ziplock bag and seal bag (Make sure it is tightly closed!). Put ice and rock salt in the larger bag and then add the filled small bag. Seal the large bag.
Squeeze bag until ice cream is thickened, about 10-15 minutes.
