Rochester Century topped Owatonna 5-2 in the Section 1AA tennis quarterfinals. The Huskies end their season at 15-5 with individual sections to start next week.

The Huskies had lost 7-0 to the Panthers during the conference season. No. 7 Century joins No. 6 Rochester Mayo, No. 3 Lakeville South and Lakeville North in the final four Tuesday.

Owatonna baseball split a doubleheader with Northfield on Thursday at Fuller Field at Dartts Park, according to www.minnesota-scores.net, winning the opener 6-3 and dropping the second game 6-1. OHS (9-10) hosts No. 5AAA New Ulm (13-5) Monday at 5PM on Kat Kountry 105FM.

OHS softball got swept by Northfield on Thursday 6-3 and 13-3 to close out the regular season. The Minnesota State High School League website shows the section playoffs starting Tuesday, May 23, for Section 1AAAA at the high seed. The double-elimination tournament shifts to Austin for all games on Thursday, May 25.

In area baseball Thursday, Blooming Prairie beat Bethlehem Academy 8-2, Maple River downed Medford 7-2, Goodhue edged Triton 2-1 and Albert Lea handled NRHEG 20-1 in five innings.

Softball action saw Bethlehem Academy blank Blooming Prairie 5-0. The Cardinals followed that with a 14-11 victory over NRHEG. Maple River swept a twin bill over Medford 12-2 and 5-1. Pine Island beat Triton 12-2.

Blooming Prairie's Tommy Braaten and Taylor Christianson won the individual Gopher Conference golf championships Thursday at Lakeside in Waseca. The Blooming Prairie boys finished second on the day to United South Central by one stroke 346-347. The Maple River boys won the overall conference championship.

On Friday, Owatonna girls lacrosse hosts Rochester Century at 6:15PM at OHS. The Owatonna boys lacrosse squad goes to Rochester to play Century at Rochester Regional Sports Stadium at RCTC at 6:30PM. Blooming Prairie baseball plays at Mankato Loyola and Triton travels to Jackson County Central.
