July is Park and Rec Month, and the Owatonna Park and Rec has a Weekend Out planned in Owatonna.

It begins on Friday, July 15, with camping and movie at Brown Park. Register at the Owatonna Park and Rec office to camp out on Friday. Camp set-up opens at 5PM only for pop-up tents and small grills. Activities will include a bonfire, s'mores and yard games. Also at sunset, The Good Dinosaur will be a family-friendly movie shown at Brown Park, 400 S.W. 16th St. It will not be made up if canceled because of the weather.

Campers must be out of the park by 9AM on Saturday.

Saturday, July 16, activities include:

  • Mountain Bike Trail Riding in Kaplan Woods from 9AM to noon, plus there will be a Fat Tire Bike Demo
  • Morehouse Bike and Skate Park will be open from 1-3PM
  • In Central Park from 6:30-8PM, some games and a concert.

Owatonna Weekend Out continues with activities on Sunday, July 17. River Springs Water Park will be open with admission $2.50 all day.

Brooktree Golf Course, 1369 Cherry St., will have Junior Scramble for ages 10-12 or 13-15. The two-person scramble has a shotgun start of 9AM. This is a nine-hole tourney. Entry fee of $25 will include golf, a meal and a chance to win prizes. The deadline to register is Friday, July 8.

The Caddyshack Tournament then follows for those 21 and older with a shotgun start of 1PM. This is a three-person scramble that will include a costume contest and "find the gopher." Register by Friday, July 8. The entry fee is $30 or $20 if you are a member of Brooktree.
