Something new, something new! Here's something new from the Owatonna Park and Recreation: Cardboard Boat Racing.

Just make a boat and paddles out of cardboard and keep it together with duct tape and hopefully it will float. The team can be one or two people of any age. Before the race, each boat will be inspected. Four teams minimum are needed and 15 would be the maximum. The race will take place at River Springs Water Park on St. Paul Road in Owatonna.

Please register by Friday, Aug. 14, at Owatonna Park and Recreation by calling (507) 451-4321. Rule packets are available at the Park and Rec office on West Hills Circle. The entrance fee is $10 per team and that does include the admission fee to enter River Springs Water Park for the participants.

The race will take place on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 10AM. The rain date will be the next day -- Monday, Aug. 24 at 10AM.

Each heat-winning team will receive a prize.
