New Year’s Eve means resolutions and exciting celebrations to most people, but for Brantley Gilbert, it's about taking it easy and preparing to be one year older. The artist says because his birthday is just around the corner, New Year’s mostly a precursor to that annual milestone.

“New Year’s Eve, that means I’m getting older. My birthday’s January 20th, so those two things kind of usually go together for me," Gilbert explains via his label, Big Machine.

It’s not all bad, though, the singer adds — he’s got some fun plans this season.

"But I’m actually pretty excited this year. I’m going up to Iowa doing some deer hunting with Lee and Tiffany LaKosky [of the Outdoor Channel's Crush with Lee and Tiffany] for New Year’s, so that’s gonna be a great time, a little low key, a little huntin’ time. I’m lookin’ forward to it.”

Gilbert is enjoying his first married holidays at home in Georgia this month before setting out on his Blackout Tour in January 2016. The artist has said his most recent single, “Stone Cold Sober,” was inspired by wife Amber. The two met early on in life, but spent several years apart before reconnecting, finally marrying in June.

“She’s my best friend, too,” Gilbert gushes. “There’s nothing like having somebody that loves every single bit of you, and that you love the same way, to actually, really share it with. Everything that’s mine is yours. Every bit of joy in my heart, you know, every smile on my face is yours. It’s awesome to be able to share that with somebody."
