The Blooming Prairie Boys and Girls Club announced Tuesday that it would discontinue its relationship with the Rochester Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club. Effective September 5, the club will be known as the Blooming Prairie Youth Club.

This Saturday the club will have a fundraiser to help kick off the 150th anniversary of Blooming Prairie. The annual Rib and Wing Thing Ribfest will take place at the Blooming Prairie Servicemen's Club. There are about a dozen contestants with room for a few more. If you're interested, contact the Boys and Girls Club. Attendees can eat all they wish from 3-7PM and also sample and judge the contestants' entries. Wristbands are on sale for $25 at Vandal's, B to Z Hardware, the Servicemen's Club, US Bank, F and M Bank and Dean's Smokeshack in Geneva. Wristbands will be $30 at the gate. There will be activities for the kids across the street in Fireman's Park during the cook-off. Music runs from 3-11PM.

You can find out more events during the 150th celebration and 4th of July celebration on the Blooming Prairie Chamber website.

The parade begins at 2:30PM Tuesday with fireworks at dusk at Victory Field.
