American Airlines says a scheduling snafu may cause problems on as many as 15,000 flights around the holidays. The problem, the computer gave too many pilots that requested time off, the days they wanted off. So there are a ton of flights that do not have pilots right now.

American says the problem has been fixed. There are reserve pilots to help cover flying in December, and they are going to pay pilots who pick up certain open trips 150% of their hourly rate – that is as much as they are allowed to get paid according to their current contract.

They are working with the APA(Airline Pilots Association) to get crews on the flights affected. As your flight date gets closer check with your airline especially if you have tickets on American Airlines.
