The Winona County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the body of 19-year-old Chukwudi Benjamin Onyeaghala was discovered in the Mississippi River near Homer.

Sheriff Ron Ganrude said the Winona Dive Team recovered the body that has been positively identified as Onyeaghala earlier today.

KAAL-TV had reported the night he disappeared, a man who lives on a boat said a black man had gotten on his boat. The boat owner told the man to leave. The boat owner then said he went back into the cabin and said he later heard a splash.

Denise McDowell, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Life at Winona State University, where Onyeaghala was a student, asked for prayers for his family and to be aware of others that may be experiencing difficult times.

The investigation continues.
