Blooming Prairie Volleyball Opens Playoffs with Victory

Blooming Prairie opened the Section 1A West Subsection playoffs Monday with a three-set sweep of LeRoy-Ostrander. The Awesome Blossoms go to Hayfield on Thursday.

Blooming Prairie played their final home match Monday and scored a 25-14, 25-15, 25-13 win over the Cardinals. Sam Wurst led Blooming Prairie with 12 kills. Courtney Wobschall had 11 kills and five blocks. Leah Inwards delivered 21 assists and dug up six balls.

The subsection quarterfinals are Thursday. Blooming Prairie will go to top-10 ranked Hayfield at 7PM. The Vikings are the second seed. The third-seeded Medford Tigers will open the playoffs Thursday hosting Lyle-Pacelli at 7PM. The No. 6 Athletics beat Glenville-Emmons on Monday.

Randolph goes to top seed Bethlehem Academy and No. 5 Goodhue plays at No. 4 Grand Meadow. Winners advance to the subsection semifinals at Mayo Civic Center in Rochester on Saturday at 10AM and 11:30AM.

Defending Class A state champ WEM begins their title defense Thursday facing Madelia, who won its Section 2A, South Subsection match Monday.
