One of the first-time performers at this year's Steele County Free Fair will be Walter's Wheelhouse. They'll be performing Tuesday night of the fair on the KRFO/Kat Kountry 105 stage at 5:45PM. The band was started by Blooming Prairie native Janelle Kendall. She's the daughter of Jim and Joanne Prokopec and a 1983 graduate of Blooming Prairie High School.

Janelle graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School and has served as county attorney in Stearns County since 2002. She had previously sung in a country band but put it aside for a while as she raised a family. Janelle started Walter's Wheelhouse in 2012 as the children were leaving the nest.

Walter's Wheelhouse plays a mix of music from Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow along with a country flavor, from Carrie Underwood to Martina McBride songs.

Two of her sons, Andrew and Alex, are a part of her band.
