The Blooming Prairie basketball teams beat JWP Tuesday. The BP boys won 58-37 at home to improve to 2-0. The Awesome Blossom girls won 67-50 at Janesville and are also 2-0. On Friday the BP boys are home with Bethlehem Academy while the girls play the Cardinals in Faribault.

Blooming Prairie boys' coach Nate Piller says the team handled the Bulldogs' defense well but could have done better against JWP's top player. "JWP played 1-3-1 defense and was effective, it that, it slowed scoring pace down a lot. Our boys handled it pretty well." Piller said BP had just seven turnovers.

"Defensively, we could have been better. We knew going in that (Kobe Weimert) is a terrific scorer and for him to get 24 points is troubling. We definitely have work to do on the defensive end. We've got to get guys to fall in love with defense."

Kaden Thomas led BP with 19 points including three treys. Karson Vigeland scored 10 and went 4-for-5 on free throws. Gabe Hagen added eight and Parker Vaith scored seven.
