Somewhere back in time we developed this misconception that all Billy Bobs live in the deep south. Actually there's a few of them in Southern Minnesota. I did some research to dig these Billy Bobs up and the rest I just plain made up. Here we go. Know any of them?

  • Billy Bob Rogers

In the '30s RKO Pictures held auditions in search of a new cowboy star. Among those auditioning was a fellow known as Roy Rogers, along with his twin brother Billy Bob Rogers. Bill Bob was actually the better cowboy. The deciding factor was when the director asked the actors to kiss their co-star. Trigger turned down Billy Bob so his brother Roy got the part. Billy Bob Rogers now enjoys retirement with Trigger Jr. on an acreage outside of Hope.

  • Billy Bob Claus

You certainly didn't think Santa Claus did all those deliveries alone. If you have items like a shotgun, rat poison or sling shot on your Christmas list, chances are it'll be Billy Bob Claus making your delivery. If you want to know for sure, set out Billy Bob's favorite treat, a slice of soft bread and a jug of non-diet pop. Maybe he'll leave you an extra treat.

  • Billy Bob Richards

Years ago a young Mick Jagger held auditions for a band. Among those trying out were twin brothers Billy Bob and Keith Richards. Mick chose Keith and perhaps also changed the complete sound of rock. Billy Bob Richards now limits himself to playing small birthday parties and bar mitzvahs.

  • Billy Bob Jones, D.D.S

When Billy Bob started up his dental practice in Steele Center, it didn't go well. Then he got some advice from his Townsquare Media Rep Rich Will. Rich advised the doc that the first time he had a new patient to raise his hand and state "Please don't pass judgement on me 'til you answer one question. Do you think your barber cuts his own hair? It did the trick and 98 percent of his first-time patients are now regulars at Dr. Billy Bob's Dental Clinic.
