Talk of the Town: Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota
Michelle Redman of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota stopped by the KRFO studies for Talk of the Town.
Redman mentioned that BB/BS of Southern Minnesota was one of 14 that received the Gold Standard Award by demonstrating a quality program and revenue growth. The purpose of the Gold Standard Awards is to recognize the top tier of outstanding, all-around performance of Big Brothers/Big Sisters agencies.
Bowl for Kids' Sake will be Friday, April 17, at J&J in Faribault and on Saturday, April 18, in Owatonna at Sparetime Entertainment. New this year to ask for pledges, go to bbbsofsouthernmn.org and send out emails. Call the office at 451-5922 for more information and to schedule a time to bowl.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota offers programs for high school students and adults to be matched as mentors with elementary students. The mentoring programs include:
- School-based
- Community based; one-on-one meetings with bigs and littles meeting on weekends or evenings developing a schedule that works for them
- Sports buddies; the activities are planned by BB/BS
- Mentoring children of prisoners
