Faribault Bethlehem Academy junior Krystjahn Peterson has a 3 stroke lead going into the final round of the Class A Boys State High School Golf Tournament.  The event is being held at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker.  Peterson shot a 4 under par 32 during the first nine holes and par 36 on the back nine to lead the entire field with a 4 under par 68.  The nearest challenger is senior Ben Laffen from Sleepy Eye United which is also in the team portion of the competition.

Peterson finished 7th last year which is All-State and told us during a recent visit he wanted to improve upon that this year.  At last year's tournament on the same course the Cardinal junior shot a 79 on the opening day and a 78 on the second day.  Last year's medalist was fellow Gopher Conference golfer senior Tommy Braaten from Blooming Prairie.  Braaten was the only person last year to break 150.  On the opening day he shot an identical 68 with his front nine a par and the back nine 4 under.

Results for some other golfers from the area include senior Jake Ressler of Blooming Prairie 44-41 for 85. Good enough for 34th place and Hayfield eighth grader Keegan Bronson shot a 94 (50-44) tied for 65th out of the 85 person field.

Sleepy Eye United and Mounds Park Academy are tied for first place in the team competition with a 325 and North Woods isn't far behind with a 328.  Section One representative Kingsland is in the 8th spot out of the eight teams with a 383 team total.

Mahnomen-Waubun was the team champion last year.
