Battle of Unbeaten Teams will Determine Big Southeast, Blue Division Title

Owatonna wrapped up at least a share of the Big Southeast, Red Division title with Friday's 29-16 win at New Prague. Winona and Mankato West will decide the Blue title Wednesday.

The Huskies' victory included a school-record performance from sophomore running back Jason Williamson. His 47 carries broke the previous mark of 46 held by Aaron Peterson during a state tournament win over Mankato West in 2012. Williamson also became just the third sophomore to reach 1,000 yards, joining Cory Urban and Collin Wencl. The Huskies play at Rochester Century on Wednesday at 7PM on KRFO AM 1390.

Northfield held off Rochester Century 14-7 Friday with a goal-line interception. The Northfield Daily News reports that the Raiders attempted a 92-yard field goal late in the game instead of punting. The kick pinned the Panthers back at their own seven-yard line to start their final drive.

Winona kept their unbeaten season alive with a 21-17 win at Mankato East. The Winhawks scored the winning touchdown with 29 seconds left, according to the Winona Daily News.

Rochester Mayo zipped to a 21-0 lead over Rochester John Marshall and beat the Rockets 21-12.

Mankato West rolled by Faribault 49-28. The Faribault Daily News reports the Falcons had the ball in the red zone a couple of times without getting any points. The Scarlets had nearly 500 yards of offense.

Austin topped Red Wing 43-21 for their second straight win.
