I’ve lived in Faribault my entire life but my wife and I enjoy traveling all around Minnesota as well as the surrounding states. When I’m not at work I’m usually spending time with my grandchildren and my grown children. I enjoy going to watch the Vikings, especially at US Bank Stadium, concerts, taking my wife to various musicals and going out to eat… I really enjoy that, as my bathroom scale can attest. I love music and spend a lot of time on the weekends looking for CDs of big hair bands that I don’t currently have in my collection.

Mike Checks Out Some Christmas Lights in Owatonna
Last year I stopped by several beautifully decorated houses around the area to take some pictures to share with you. Since then I received word that one of the places no longer was able to host their massive holiday display due to health reasons...
Minnesota Towns With Naughty Names
Have you ever been traveling across the United States and passed through a town that made you snicker a little because of its name? My favorite was Kickapoo, Illinois, but I'm sure there have been others. Our country is filled with names that will surely bring a smile to your face or even a stifled laugh as you pass through them...
What Was the Coldest Day in Minnesota?
This year's mild fall lulled us into a false sense of a possible warm winter. But Minnesota's weather has reared its ugly head and comes in full force with a snowstorm followed by bitter cold. But really, when you think about it, this is classic Minnesota season change...
Mike’s Having Some Cold Weather Fun
Okay, let's see a show of hands if you're enjoying this wonderful weather.
(Silence)
That's what I thought, except for last Sunday, when we all went outside to play in the snow, this cold weather hasn't been much fun at all.
With this subzero weather, most of us are trapped inside with their kids, or in my case my grandkids...
Christmas Lights Up the Night Just Off I-35
In my quest for beautiful Christmas lights, I thought I'd share with you one of the most spectacular and unique tribute to the holidays that I've ever seen. If you're heading south out of Faribault or north out of Medford on I-35 at night you have seen it as well because it lights up the night just off the west side of the highway...
The Holiday Train is Coming to the Twin Cities
One of the things I really enjoy about the Christmas season is all the fun events that happen within our local communities as well as across the state. Last year my family and I went to see the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train in Waseca. This was the second time visiting this festively decorated train in Waseca...

If you’re visiting downtown Owatonna this evening you’re in for a treat as the streets will be glowing brightly during the Lighted Holiday Parade. The parade will go from the corner of Front Street and North Cedar Avenue to Central Park then around Central Park onto West Park Square...
Where Are The Christmas Lights?
Now that Thanksgiving is in our rear view mirror and Christmas shopping has begun in earnest with the annual Black Friday shopping chaos, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, which for many online retailers started last week or before, it's time to also think about Christmas decorations...
Faribault Christmas Light Show Canceled This Year
One of the things I look forward to each holiday season is all the beautifully decorated homes. Each year I like to drive around with my grandchildren or my wife and look at the houses that are lit up in celebration of Christmas. I enjoy them them all, whether it's a few strings of lights or the houses of Christmas chaos where they have a ton of lights and holiday-related characters all over the y
Only 3 Mall of America Stores to be Open on Thanksgiving
One of the things that I don't like about Black Friday is the way that it's slowly creeped into Thanksgiving. This means that the employees, more than likely those with lower seniority, are forced to disrupt their holiday plans with their families in order to work...
