This April will mark the 49th anniversary of one of the worst tornado outbreaks in Minnesota history. April 30, 1967, numerous powerful tornadoes touched down in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota, causing widespread destruction and fatalities, including two in Owatonna.

The Waseca Virtual History Museum has a collection of photos from that tragic day.

Currently on display at the Steele County History Center is an exhibit devoted to disasters. Learn more about the event in our local history series, A Look Back.

Here's a short film clip taken during that tornado from YouTube.
