Recent Owatonna High School graduate and state tournament golfer Andrew Wall captured the Owatonna City Open title Sunday by two strokes over Tanner Grimmius.

Wall shot a steady 75 and 73 for a 148 total over the two-day event, beginning at Brooktree Golf Course Saturday and ending at the Owatonna Country Club Sunday. Grimmius shot 77-73 for 150. Denver Dierson fired 152. William Brittain and John Swenson, a Huskies' teammate of Wall, tied for fourth with 155.

Chad Hacker carded 156 for sixth place. Brian Wagamon (157), Tom Smith (159), David Johnson (160) and Derek Resler (163) round out the top 10 for the championship flight.

Sue Erickson won the women's low gross with 176. Karin Steffenson had low net with 153. Tom Heisler won the senior low gross. Wally Risberg captured the senior low net. In the super senior division, Fred Almer had low gross and Tom Shea had low net.

Dewey Beckel won the first flight, ahead of Zach Radke. Perry Kytola won the second flight. Mike Ehlert won the third flight by one stroke over Wade Westphal. Karl Seewald won the fourth flight.

The long-running local event allows Steele County residents to play both of Owatonna's 18-hole courses for a reasonable cost in a competitive atmosphere and at each player's skill level.

The juniors played Thursday and Friday. The winners were Matt Steel, Jonny Wall, Jack Langlois and Will Hacker, according to the Owatonna boys golf twitter account.
