Albert Lea Area won a series of close decisions in the lower weights and held off Owatonna in the upper bouts to knock off the defending section champion Huskies 33-19 Saturday at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester. The Tigers won five straight matches from 113 pounds to 138 by a total of seven points. Albert Lea led 15-3 at that point.

Jerez Autridge won a 4-3 decision over Tyler Harms, similar results to his overtime win against the same opponent during the regular season dual. Brody Nielson won by pin for a 21-6 Tigers' lead. Parker Westphal earned a big 12-5 win, but top-ranked Peyton Robb was held to a major decision victory and Albert Lea was up 21-13.

Match-ups changed quite a bit in the upper weights compared to the Big Nine meet won by the Huskies 30-27 in come-from-behind fashion. Albert Lea's Spencer Indrelie, who lost to Nick Staska earlier this month at 195, got a win by pin at 182 over Cam Roberts. Zach Glazier of the Tigers, who beat Westphal at 170 pounds February 3, majored Staska at 220 to clinch the section title.

Owatonna beat Northfield in Saturday's semifinals 45-18. Albert Lea Area beat Faribault 36-26.

This is the 13th appearance at state for Albert Lea Area. Owatonna ends the season with a 23-7 record. Section individuals are Friday and Saturday February 23-24 at Mayo Civic Center.
